"Pulteney Point Heritage Lighthouse"
Malcolm Island, British Columbia
The Pulteney Point Lighthouse is located on the southwest corner of Malcolm Island and stands in position to provide safe guidance to the shipping vessels and fishing boats which travel the waters of both the Broughton and Queen Charlotte Straits.
This heritage site was first established in 1905 and was manned by Finnish Settlers from the nearby community of Sointula. In 1906, a hand operated foghorn was given to the lighthouse keeper and this was used until 1915, when it was finally replaced with a mechanical fog bell. The current lighthouse and fog alarm building was constructed in 1943 and still remains in service.
Cloud formations appear to have their own artist flair. They jostle, collide, and climb as they sail by, changing shapes and formations. Can you spot the whale floating past?
