One of the primary activities that define their daily lives is their quest for salmon, which is their main source of food.

Salmon is not just a dietary staple for the Northern Resident Orca; it is a critical component of their cultural and social structure. The orcas have developed sophisticated hunting techniques and cooperative strategies to catch these elusive fish. They rely on their keen echolocation abilities to locate schools of salmon, communicating with each other through a series of clicks and whistles. Once a school is found, the orcas work together to herd and capture the fish, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and intelligence.
