SOINTULA HARBOUR PRINTS
Founded in 1901, Sointula, meaning "A Place of Harmony," was the vision of Finnish immigrants aspiring to create a self-reliant Utopian society. For more than a hundred years, the commercial fishing fleets of Sointula have played an integral role in the area's storied maritime history. These early Finnish pioneers built a robust fishing operation that, together with the timber industry, bolstered their collective economy. Currently, a small yet resilient fleet persists, as it strives to maintain its presence in the face of modern-day challenges.
Nestled on Malcolm Island, just a stone's throw from Northern Vancouver Island, this charming coastal hamlet is accessible via a brief ferry journey from Port McNeill, inviting visitors to experience its serene beauty and enduring spirit.
