San Josef Bay is the gateway to the rugged wilderness of Cape Scott Provincial Park, established in 1973, protecting approximately 115 kilometres of spectacular ocean coastline and nearly 30 kilometres of breathtaking sandy beaches. It is one of those special places where you can experience the beauty of Northern Vancouver Island without sharing the beach with a crowd. The journey to San Josef Bay is every bit as rewarding as the destination itself, leading visitors through a beautiful coastal forest before opening onto expansive white sand beaches and one of the most breathtaking views on the island.

One of San Josef Bay's most striking features is its towering sea stacks. These natural formations are the result of centuries of relentless Pacific waves eroding the softer rock, leaving behind massive pillars that stand as natural sculptures against the horizon. Standing on the beach, it's impossible not to admire these incredible formations rising from the shoreline like silent guardians. During low tide, visitors can explore the sea stacks and nearby sea caves, while a high-tide trail leads to a second secluded beach, adding another memorable adventure to the experience.
